Anyone else remember this statement from another thread?

Uhuh, sure it is, if I could just remind you of a slightly newer post

I will admit that I find latin women rather sexy. Also Asian women. European women are quite special, too. African women are lovely. North American women do it for me. The Australian women I've met are great. Indian women definitely are appealing. And of course, British women deserve special mention.

Yup Mr Discerning alright! Laughing

Oh you'll change your mind when you get older/meet the right girl/settle down... Twisted Evil Sorry I just couldn't resist! That is what I hear everytime I express similar sentiments (well except they usually say the right man but you get the idea Razz ). ARGH! As Loz said it is nice to know that there are other people out there who feel the same way. You can put me on your list for if things don't work out with Loz Laughing

In the beginning, everybody sees the positive cultural differences, but there are many differences, and not all are positive...

One thing I think can cause difficulties is the differing attitudes towards cross gender (not as in drag queens Razz ) friendships. For example in Australia it is acceptable for me, as a female, to have male friends but in some cultures this just doesn't happen and so problems can arise.

Some people are just wind up artists...grumble, grumble...

But seriously, friendships across the gender line are something I miss. In some countries, many of my friends have been women, but here, the idea of a man and a woman just being friends is a little suspect. I do have women friends here, but fewer, and in specific contexts. (The director of the school where I volunteer, who is a nun, is also a friend. My assistant is both a woman and a friend. But we don't socialize in situations where it would be just the two of us.)

A few weeks ago, while my girlfriend was away in England, I went for a drink with a female colleague. (Also foreign) We went to a bar where I am reasonably well known (only good bar in the neighborhood) and several people promised not to tell my girlfriend. Hmmm.

A few things I've heard from friends who work in sex education foundations round here:

You can't get pregnant if you do it standing up.

You can't get pregnant the first time.

You can't get pregnant if you do it under water.

You can't get pregnant if you do it in the shower.

You can't get pregnant if the woman is on top.

Taking the pill when young will make you infertile for life.

I have a few more, but somehow they seem innapropriate here. The offshoot of all this is, is it any wonder there are so many babies round here?

Since I'm not married, I don't know about things like sex Laughing , but I got told these things when I was a teenager back in the 80's, and I was nowhere near Latin America at the time. Shocked

What, are you proposing a threesome? PETA might have something to say about that...

I hesitated posting on this thread earlier, and now I'm glad I didn't! Rolling Eyes You guys can't stay serious about subjects like this! Laughing
Back to the original subject, I have no expectations, no plans about romantic possibilities. To do otherwise is to invite trouble, or at least disappointment. Mad
Save wishful thinking about romance for the "lonely hearts" pages!
