| Wow, you'd find it very different here from '93. Zona Rosa is virtually an all gay district now. |

Wow. I guess the city really has changed When I was there, it was just this posh district that was a little cut off from the center....I wonder if its considered like central DF now, too. I was only there for about a week, but still.
Also, when you consider the name, I guess it kind of makes sense |

True. Strip clubs, excuse me, Gentlemen's Clubs also abound. It's still pretty good though with a few nice patios off the main strip.
Now the Centro Historic is a real treat...city gov and private investement put 150 million dollars into a major renovation. It's now safe at night, much cleaner, well lit, and nicely decorated. Much more family oriented now, at least the major parts of it near Bellas Artes, Motolina, Gante, and Madero. |

Guy,
I much prefer that avatar. Man, the flashy, seizure-inducing one was very disturbing.
I put my future self on the map. It wouldn't accept China (and fair enough, for a Latin America forum), but I wanted to belong. (sniff) I miss Mexico.
I'll be in Eugene, Oregon early 2006, and back to Mexico ASAP. Maybe I should have put myself in Tijuana?? |

Yeah, I was getting complaints about the subliminal advertising...
Are you from Eugene? Weird, but we've had several people teaching here in Mexico City that came from that place, which I understand to be quite small.
I'm starting to see a connect-the-dots picture out of those pins on the map (if it weren't for that damn France one). It's a picture of...of... |

Naw,
I've never even BEEN to Eugene. My mum lives near there, and it's a college town with some sort of music scene, and I've got a couple of teaching job possibilities lined up. That's all. I'm actually from L.A. (in this case, that means Los Angeles, not Latin America). |

Just fulfilling one of my life's ambitions, to be an extraneous appendage!

Is that a PC way of saying *beep* envy? |

Only in your world...
Actually it would be more like a PC term for a *beep* not just the envy (grasping well the game rules you are ), can't say that it has ever occured to me want to be a *beep*, there are plenty of other people in this world performing that role more than adequately. Like... ah no, not going to go there!

| Come on lurkers, I know that you're out there and you haven't marked the map yet. I didn't believe that it wouldn't accept China, so I did a test, and there it is, a thumb tak over Beijing, (you have to zoom out to see it) and if you are not in the US, when you sign in, click on the "not in US?" instead of entering your zip code. |

Oh yeah I was going to comment on that, how can it let me put in France but reject China!?!
But someone distracted me, wonder who that could've been...

Hmm...
It accepted Beijing? I didn't try that, but I've never been to Beijing. I tried Dalian, where I am now, and I tried Shenyang, which is where I spent two years and met my wife and it's in the same province...
In fact, Shenyang is the capital of the province. It didn't accept it, so I just assumed it wouldn't accept China.
I'll try again. I'd like Shenyang represented for at least ONE L.A. wannabe, as there are actually several there who were jealous of the time I lived there.
And you all there should be aware of this - Latin America seems, globally speaking, to be one of the most desired and exotic locations (and that includes Americans as well - a lot of Americans are actually AFRAID of Mexico!). |

Nope.
I typed in Shenyang, and then it turned into "Shenyang, Liaoning (China)" so I thought it would work that time.
But I tried it and the top of the map said "Invalid City." So I guess I'll leave myself in Eugene. |

HA!
That's good, Guy. I'll give you co-writing credits when I record the song! |
