I am a 44 year old, single man. I have a degree in Elementary Education, and three years experience teaching 4th grade through high school. I want to teach in Asia. Preferably, in Korea. I have run across a company called Cultural Embrace that seems to offer what I think I need and want. Does anyone have any experience with this company? Can anyone offer any advice on where I go from here to secure a good job in Korea, China, or Vietnam?

I'm not familiar with their programs and can only add that I have met the woman who owns/operates Cultural Embrace when she came personally to Mexico to research and develop her programs. I think she's a good lass.

I am guessing you are like me in wanting to find a good place to work and just have the freedom to do your job and live happy. The mistake I see professional teachers making who are getting into EFL is taking jobs that are lower than their standards because they are are naive about what's really available to them. Your best move is to decide on a country and then research it. Go to the forum for that country and read, read, read. You will find out what some of your options are.

If you are looking to teach abroad awhile, I wouldn't think you would want to go with a program. With your credentials, I would look into the private k-12 schools, international schools, universities and in some countries, the public schools. Just don't go with the language institutes like English First or other language chain schools. They won't measure up to your professional expectations.

Be real picky about what job you take and don't believe everything they offer is what they deliver, research the offer and school meticulously. Explore ALL your options for a given region. Email whoever you can to get information. Use the search feature in the forum as well. There is also the Job Information Journal.

Do lots of research and contact lots of schools, you are bound to find a good school at the right time when they need someone.
