I've been dating a Turkish girl for 2 years and I planned on moving to Turkey to find a job teaching English in January, but she just broke up with me! Anybody have any good ideas on how to win a Turkish girl back?

It was the English Teaching thing that did it.

Well... with a B.A. in English I couldn't think of anything else to do that would enable us to be closer. Money has never really been important to me, obviously.

You are not going to get anything else in Turkey. Look on the bright side, if you don`t win her back you will have had a lucky escape from the drudgery of TEFL.

A BA in English is pretty rare in TEFL in Turkey which must mean that it is a reasonably marketable degree. Of course a BA in English is useless in a TEFL classroom as a BA in anything is useless in a TEFL classroom.

If you need any TEFL ''qualifications'' let me know.

If I could get qualified AND be in Turkey at the same time that would be best. Of course, alot of my plans are sort of up in the air at this point. I have this notion of arriving and sweeping her off her feet... that's what 4 years of reading Victorian literature does to a guy.

You are a native speaker and that means you are qualified. You actually have a degree and it is in English-you have got it made. I will get you a cert free of charge.

I love the sweeping her off her feet but that doesn`t go with TEFL now does it? How are you going to make a decent life for the two of you with a pathetic TEFL job?

What do you mean "free of charge"? And we still have plenty of time before she graduates, so I have plenty of time to expand and grow and advance and blah blah blah.
