I'm an Irish person. I attained my TEFL cert this year and I'd like to teach in Costa Rica, but anytime I check this place out it's always looking for North American speakers.
Also how can I get experience without having to teach in China?
Just joking, but it's seems very hard to get a job anywhere other than China without experience.
I'm also interested in Portugl and Spain as places to teach.
Where would be easier Central America or Europe? |

As an EU citizen, you have opportunities for teaching in Europe (legallly) that others don't have, and you might want to take advantage of this. On the other hand, Costa Rica is probably a good place to start, but you have to go ther in person and interview. I guess the insistance on face-to-face meeting its part of their culture. This applies to North Americans as well- there's none to little hiring from abroad.
What do you mean by easier? Easier to find work, to make a decent wage, or as a new teacher? |

Soory, I meant easier to find work in my current situation, without experience. |

You may want to check the Europe discussion forum for Spain/Portugal. The good news is, (from what I can gather) in Costa Rica, you don't have to do much more than show up presentably for an interview to get TEFL work! Doesn't get much easier.
Edited, oops, I left off an important detail!

Lots of people without experience kicking around latin america. Usually they get the jobs you have to be on the ground to get, though.
Spain, as an EU citizen, would be another place where jobs grow on trees. However, good jobs don't grow on trees, so shop around as much as you can.

Justin
