well, i finally got my plane ticket and everything is starting to feel so real all of a sudden. i'm leaving december 31st from toronto, and arriving in buenos aires january 1st. i really can't believe it. you know when you make a plan and then it all falls into place and works out? i just love it when that happens.
so i guess i just wanted to express my excitement.
and one question: about when do most schools start (what time of year i mean)? i've heard march, but is this pretty standard for all schools, or is this just for regular public schools? i'm assuming i'll be working in a private language school rather than a public school. do private language schools start at different times of year?

and who else is arriving in january??? i know a couple of us have mentioned meeting up when we arrive, which might be nice.

Most business students thru the intistutes start around March, April time. but I wouldn't expect everything to get into full swing till April, May time.
I hope you are saving hard and get lots of cash to bring down here cos you'll need it . I wouldn't recommend coming with less that US$3000, if you want to live comfortably.

Yeah, I'll be arriving in BsAs mid Jan. I'm planning on taking a month long Spanish course somewhere, to polish up my non-existant language skills and hopefully meet a bunch of people.

That's kind of what Hannibal used to say at the end of each A-Team episode.

I'm actually not arriving until Jan. 23 (I think), so I won't be able to share the first few days in Argentina with you. I'm timing my arrival so as to give myself enough time to get to know Buenos Aires a bit, get somewhat settled, have a bit of fun, before starting applications in February. I'm sure everything will be alright though - these things seem to be a bit scary before arriving, but once you get there, you'll be too busy discovering, enjoying yourself to really worry about it, I think...

For those arriving early next, I just posted a thread about a room for rent in Recoleta beginning the 1st of February.

If you need any help when you get here or someone to chat with feel free to pm me. I've been here about two months so there lots of things I don't have figured out, but one thing I do know is that sometimes the first few days can be tough when you're alone.

Suerte.
