Funny you should mention 5-Star Hotels. Some time back, I visited a 4-star hotel with a friend of mine and we were given the royal treatment because she knew the general manager quite well. We were shocked at the large number of spelling and grammatical errors we discovered in their menus and hotel room service books. The strangest example was the use of the word "peculiarities" as a heading for some food items on the hotel's menu. I brought our discoveries to the hotel's manager and he said he was 'shocked' as well because the hotel was hoping to attract more foreigners and such an embarrassment did not sit well with him. So... I highlighted my business background and offered to review the materials and edit them accordingly. Haven't heard a word since. Maybe it IS a lost cause after all.
