The best value Chiang Mai currency exchange

The best I've found for my Chinese RMB is 1RMB=4.55Baht

At the border (Chiang Saen), this was 1RMB=5Baht (what the actual rate should be). Check xe.com

My question is, does a place exist in Chiang Mai (preferably not a bank) that can buy Chinese RMB for the ACTUAL rate (just like at the border)?

note: at the border, I exchanged money from a lady in a convenience store. Can I found a similar lady in Chiang Mai?

I can understand why you're asking, 'cause that amounts to a 9% commission! Confused

Any "official" exchange that I've seen in Thailand was that bad, or worse, when it came to exchanging RMB. I've seen as little as 4 Baht offered for one RMB, in Bangkok (but 8 RMB= 1 USD!).

Gold Rush, was that exchange rate offered at Chiang Saen through an "official" exchange, or was it something informal? I would think any place that had a high volume of Chinese day-traders would offer a better chance for a "fair" exchange of RMB. Don't know about Chiang Mai....
