Am I right in thinking that all farang with a years workpermit have to inform the immgration department of their whereabouts every 90 days or possibly face a fine of 5000B!!!

I beleive this to be the case.

As such, I have a couple of questions.

(Obviously I've missed the first 90 day deadline, else I wouldn't be posting this topic.)

1. Are you automatically fined the 5000B if you turn up late?

2.If you just don't go a) will they find out?
b) how will they find out?
c) do you accumulate fines?

I ask because I went to Malaysia after the 90 day deadline and no-one so much as broached the subject.

3. If I haven't been yet and have managed to leave and return into the country with no bother, is it worth evening risking going incase they decide to fine my white farang ass?

Marm

Cheers KK in advance.

While it is indeed 5,000 Baht they still seem to only charge the old rate of 2,000 Baht (I don't know anyone that's been hit with the 5K fine).

Well as above they'll probably only charge you 2K once you do decide to register.

Well I know people that managed to avoid it for years, but they seem to be getting a bit more clued up so they may well 'bust' you when you next extend your Visa (maybe).

See above.

In theory yes I think they can do, but in practice it seems they just knock you for the 2K regardless of how many you've missed.

On a re-entry permit I assume? In that case when you returned into Thailand by filling in the TM card you'be now actually recorded your address, so you don't really have to register your address now until 90 (or 7 days either side) days after you returned to Thailand.

Well personally I think it's worth doing it sooner rather than later, and as you've left and entered you might well be fine and not get knocked with any type of fine.
