I want to work in Beijing, preferably to teach in a university. I have an MBA and last summer was offered jobs teaching business classes in some universities, but now it's mid-semester so I haven't found it. My question is, how easy is it to go to China working for a cram school or kindergarten, and then change jobs later at the beginning of a semester? Is it a huge hassle?
Any job hunting tips would be appreciated, too... I'm in Korea now. |

So... nobody has ever changed jobs in China? Just tell me this... can it be done? Or does one get barred from China forever for breaking a contract? |

Plenty of schools in Beijing need short term teachers and it would be well advised to take one of those positions instead of signing a contract with the intention of breaking it down the road.
As far as taking up another job after breaking a contract, the response to that will be: It depends! If the PSB requires a release letter, then you might have to head to HK and change your visa. If your new boss has enough Guanxi, then you might not have to..... just too many variables to give you a straight answer. |

OK that's cool. In Korea the deal is you can't work again until your original contract term has expired, and even then you'd have to leave the country first. |
