Hiya:
I am an American with a B.S. and a TESOL Cert. and I am on my way to Vietnam. I will be joined by a Philippine Female. She has a B.S. (minor in Ed.) and a TESOL Cert. as well. I understand the road to employment for a Asian teacher in Vetnam can be a longer one.
Can she reasonably expect to find employment in the ESL field in Vietnam? Her interest is mostly in teaching young learners, does anyone have a suggestion as where to look for employment for a cute Filipina?
Take care,

If your friend has a Philipino passport then she whould be OK legally as I understand that VN has an agreement with the Philippines re: employment. As far as Asians working as native speakers, yes, it's a bit more difficult but I see more and more native speaking Asians working here. So more difficult but easier than it used to be - good luck! |

Thanks Countdown! That is reassuring. Can you (or anyone else) name a school that they know Filipinas have been hired? We are interested in both HCMC and Hanoi. My plan is to help her find a job first and then look for one myself close by.
Thanks and take care,
