ECC doesn't pay for your flight coming or going.

As far as which is cheaper, one way or round trip, it depends on a variety of things. If you have a branch of H.I.S. in your home country (I know they're in the US, then check for one way tickets with them to come to Japan. Leaving Japan, shop around with the zillions of travel agents/tour operators there.

If you're coming from the US, you might try looking in the travel section of the NY Times (or similar paper). They have lots of discount agents listed. I booked through an agent called JALPAK, they are associated with JAL but offer much lower rates than booking directly with the airline.

If you're not coming from the US this will be totally unhelpful.

Get a two way it is usually the same price. You never know if you will want to go home unexpectedly.

One thing to watch out for is that some round trip tickets that offer 12 months validity actually only offer around 11 as the 12 months begins from when you purchase the ticket, not from when you fly. This means that if you have a 12 month contract your ticket will expire about a month before you are able to use the return portion of it.

I am coming from the US, thanks for the tips. I know ECC has a travel agent on their website for discount rates, I have to look into that too.

IACE is the cheapest. See if you have a branch in your city.
