Anyone travelling from the US (preferrably Atlanta) to Cancun during January or February? I'm trying to find cheap flights then. Is Jan/Feb the busy season for that area?? |

December thru March is the busy tourist season. Relative to other destinations in Latin America, Cancun is cheap, but I don't know how to find deals (yet.) |

Try STA travel (is that American?), if you are still a student. Otherwise, look into charter flights if you are willing to dump the return ticket and fly back another way.
or

the only way cheaper than that is to grow wings. |

STA travel is worldwide and no longer caters only to students. Good in some ways since it means easier access to deals for those who are no longer studying but bad in others, no longer so good at budget travel and student discounts/special deals.
Flight Centre is another one to try or maybe www.expedia.com

I find the cost of domestic flights in Mexico to be somewhat frustrating.
I can fly for five hours from DF to Vancouver almost as cheap as from Huatulco to DF (55 minutes). How can they sell those international flights so much cheaper? (Volume!) |

You're right...it's annoying. Unless you are flying to Chicago or LA only, it can be expensive. I found that if you fly Aviacsa or another small mexican carrier to somewhere like LA or Houston, then buy a ticket there for onward ho, it can be cheaper. |

Try Sun Country Airlines. They have cheap flights from the Midwest & South to Cancun. I think they should route from Atlanta as well, but not sure? I got a cheap fare from Dallas to Cancun round trip in the first week of January a year ago for only $195. It did come to $280 with all the taxes and stuff though. |

If you're going to Cancun, it might be worthwhile to see what Mexican airlines are offering. The region is in cleanup after hurricane Wilma and may be offering some attractive discounts just to attract early tourist dollars there.
Mexicana airlines has a 2 X 1 deal during this, the low season. |

the best flight search engine I've used is www.sidestep.com.
it uses the other sites in its search so it will supposedly find the cheapest alternative from among a number of other search engines.
i'm looking at $367 round trip Indianapolis-Mexico City, which is pretty cheap. not sure about atlanta-cancun. |

Also try www.opodo.co.uk, they have super cheap flights! London to Cancun was 120??? Ridiculous! (They aren't just based in the UK.) Thomsonfly.com is also cheap but you may have to be leaving from Europe? Worth checking out though... |

I'm not going to Mexico until later this year!! Bummer!!! But, I did find one airline, Spirit Air, who has a sale from Atlanta to Cancun for $188 round trip until April 30. They may have more originating cities in this deal; i'm not sure.

I checked Orpitz and some others. O. prices increase while you are booking, and some flights disappear from the screen. My travel agent found the best deal (US Airways at the time). And I had it from a brick business address! The cheap prices tend to be for some 3 days return, not very helpful if you want 3 month. Also make sure you can actually enter the country with a oneway ticket. You may be rejected on grounds that there is no guarantee you can afford to leave. Of course I would say I am leaving by bus to the neighboring country - will it be accepted? I don't know. |
