I've gotten several inquiries from people about teach-abroad.org . The site claims to have been in business for 11 years, but the domain appears to have been registered just last Oct 2005. One person said that they required her to send them a bank transfer in American dollars of $150.00 for an "Application fee." Once sent, the company has not confirmed they've received it, nor have they answered her emails.
They appear to be located in Germany, and claim to be a non-profit organization founded in 1994, but I'm posting here (rather than in the Europe or Germany forum) because they supposedly recruit for Taiwan, China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia.
In general, asking for money in this manner says "scam" to me, but on the other hand, I know there are legitimate recruiters who ask for visa processing fees and so forth.
Anyone heard of them?
Thanks!

teachabroad.com. teachabroad.org, teach-abroad.com and teach-abroad.org are registered to four completely different organizations.
Whether all four charge $150 is another matter.
My personal advice is don't bother. The norm as far as recruiters go is for the employer to pay, not the employee, so unless you are looking for a short term holdiay gig look for jobs yourself. |

You can find your own jobs in this business - and reputable recruiters get paid by the school where they place you.
Paying up front - a very bad policy. Don't do it. |
