I noticed that Shanghai Jiatong University are offering teaching positions in specified fields such as art, sculpture, drama etc. But I would be wary of these positions and would want to find out more information before proceeding.
My understanding is that the courses are actually aimed at expat students although I am sure that locals with a high enough English level would be welcome to attend. I guess that it is attempting to become a kind of community college, which judging by the numbers of expats in Shanghai these days is probably not a bad thing.
My concern, and I have no real basis for this concern other than a less than comprehensive understanding of their program, is as to whether these positions would be legal or not. My understanding is that they are part time positions, but assuming that you had a few different classes you may be able to get a full workload. Additionally, I believe that they may be short term courses. It would seem to me that this would not be the legal basis for working in China, but maybe others have opinions on the program as far as suitability to teachers in Shanghai for additional work opportunities. |
