Global charges the school $1000 USD for each teacher placed |
That's a lot. I didn't know schools paid for this. |
Yeah, YIKES! I baulk at the thought of paying $75 to post an ad on Dave's, and that results in over 1000 resumes. |

Good posts..nice to talk such things out and especially nice to find something we can agree on, Samantha. We do such types of placements at Teachers Latin America and it certainly is good to see how we compare against the mix described above.

Nice plug, I say! So of course you pay your $75.00 for an ad on Dave's like the others do or have you other methods of recruiting clientele? |

Why thank you. Now how did I know that comment was coming?
We have ads up in other places, but mostly, word of mouth has been most effective. When you do a good job, it gets around. Like Rich! Really would like to see him here again. He hasn't called me in a long time either... |

Richard is cool. He appears to know what's really going on in the jungle. |

I agree that Monica from Global is very friendly. She actually does a very good job considering what she has to deal with (her boss, Randall, is really creepy). Anyway, they do charge $1000 per teacher placed unless some other deal is worked out. For example, if a school hires several teachers through Global, they may get a discount. There is no guarantee that the teacher will stay for the entire year or that they will be suitable for the position. At the school where I was several teachers leave early every year and new ones have to be found at the last minute.
Monica did stay in touch with me as well until the school had paid her in full. She offered to have her husband do something for me since he is a lawyer in the city where I lived. However, after the school paid the money she told me he couldn't do it.
There are some good situations out there regarding placement organizations, but I still believe it is better to hunt down your own job than go through an agency. |
