You might suggest they "team teach" some of the classes, thereby having two instructors teaching the same group of students on alternate days. This could be sold to the students as a way of increasing their exposure to different foreign teachers and teaching methods, while eliminating the need for foreign staff to work mandatory six day weeks. The six day week situation is not sustainable over the long term. I did it my first year here and will never do it again. It's well known that Taiwan doesn't have near enough public holidays and, with no weekends, staff are going to resort to taking leave to recharge their batteries. Of course, the school feels the need to penalize teachers at 200% of the day's salary for time off. Realistically, they probably won't restructure their scheduling just for you. They'll have to figure out what's driving away their foreign staff and fix it on their own. Richmond is likely worth a miss in the mean time.
