Cheap places aren't on the net. If you are arriving late, just book one night and then find a place on your own the next day.

Thanks alot for the tip. I arrive at 1030 am. Who do you think I might be able to ask? A hotel staff member, an ex-pat, taxi driver?

Thanks again, appreciate your advice.

I hate to be negative but this is the reality. Phuket is one of the busiest resorts in Thailand. The week you are coming is THE busiest time of the year. 'Cheap' places tend to triple (or even quadruple) their rates in this period. For example: scungy bungalows I know in Krabi usually 400baht a night, over that week are 1300baht plus
Good luck

If you have not already consulted the Thailand Master Index here at Dave's and found this link you may want to take a look at this website. www.hotelthailand.com. There are many hotels listed for far less than the prices you have stated, however, as has already been noted prices and demand during this period will be higher. Take a look and send some inquiries and see what you can find - you may be surprised. Check some of the other hotel web links in the master index as well. Good luck.

Hi phillis2

If you happen to have a credit card,

you can kill 2 birds with one stone:

1) special rates often apply

and

2) your reservation is solid

I gave up credit cards many years ago to keep my ass out of debt,

but there are some clear benefits for those who hang onto them:
