hi,
I'm finishing my time at AEON and have elected to get the "cash equivalent" instead of the 1 way return ticket to my home country. I plan to go to a different country before I return home. I was just told that the money I will get will be the price of the ticket itself and the taxes. they will not give me the cash for the fuel tax, which is pretty hefty. Is AEON making money on each teacher who takes the "cash equivalent" option? Is seems so, as if i chose the "return ticket" option they would pay for the ticket, taxes, and fuel charges. In my mind, "cash equivalent" means they should give me the amount that they would have to spend getting me home. Are there any ex-AEON people who know about this? Any advice? Do I have any recourse? Thanks!!! |

When I left AEON I think I got about 80,000 yen for the return ticket equivalent (To Canada). I have no idea if that included fuel tax or whatever (this was almost three years ago) , but after being quoted a couple prices from travel agents out of curiousity (I was staying in Japan) I found it was about the correct amount.
How much is the fuel tax anyway? Personally I wouldn't bother making a stink of it because there really isn't much way they are going to change their minds if its the policy they've set for everyone. |
