is travelling in china busy in late december and early january? train tickets go fast?

Chinese New Year is the busiest time at our train station . Not sure about late December and Early Jan .

Since Christmas falls on a Sunday this year, you may experience a typical weekend crowd, but nowhere near the crowds you'll see during the Chinese New Year holiday, I'd imagine.
