Mexican men follow their hearts, instead of their heads. (I know what you're thinking about following another body part! Hey I'm trying to be serious here!) A good Heart is most important anyways, not brains or body... the rest is just side benefits.
Yuk. I'm turning to mush in my old age! Embarassed

Well, I'm trying to follow my heart instead of my head by going to Guaymas (although I'm beginning to believe that Guaymas doesn't exist Crying or Very sad ) so any helpful info would be appreciated. Sorry I know that this is not really related to this topic, but it is sort of in keeping with the topic of the forum. Anyone??? Guy, don't you even have a useful (or useless) titbit?

Oh, and I no idea what other body part you're talking about??? Hmmm? Wink And yes you are sounding terribly mushy in your old age (the rest are just side benefits!)

Sorry...I'm afraid I've never even heard of Guaymas before you mentioned it. It is in Sonora...

Useless tidbits...

It's right now 8 Celsius there.

Guaymas is an important seaport located 136 km to the south of Hermosillo by the federal highway 15 in the State of Sonora, Mexico. Guaymas has beautiful beaches such as De Cortes and Miramar where you can dive and practice aquatic sports. Nearby is found El Sahuaral, also known as The Enchanted Forest, which is a shelter of wild fauna. - Mexico Tourism Board

It's in the desert.

My guide book has a very short section. Basically it's hot and humid, there's lots of seafood and it's close to the beaches of San Carlos. Hope this helps. Very Happy

At the risk of overgeneralizing...

Im dating a guy now that I like... not "Mexican" in the sense of the stereotypical "machismo" We were talking about machismo the other day and I said that any American that says we dont have machismo is lying... we have it, its just more subtle. Many guys (in my experience) talk a good game about equality but too often its only talk. Ive met a number of really manipulative guys (like my ex grrrrrr) ! At least here, the machismo seems to be more open and obvious, and therefore easier to spot and avoid.

On the other hand, the guy Im dating is 45 and never married. Now, I usually am very leery of this type - usually there is a good reason for never marrying. But Ive not found anything yet that I consider a big red flag. He is really really shy and really wants a woman who is independent and strong. He told me that he was really interested in this one woman once but all she wanted was to get married and have kids and stay home, which is what happened (with some other guy). He doesnt want to make all the decisions either. Talking to some other 40-somethings here in Mexico... seems that this is enough to keep a guy of my generation single here! However, they say things are changing and the younger generation is not so traditional.

If this is the case... then Im very lucky! Wink

Thanks Guy!

The photo of the desert was extremely helpful, although we have deserts in South Africa it's nice to compare them to the ones in Mexico. Razz However I'm confused, was that a dashboard? Cars are a rarity here in deepest, darkest Africa

Oh, I was joking about the Mexican men info Smile , but thanks anyway. You can never know too much about a place!

M@tt, I think you have some "issues."
Of course, there have been some gorgeous "fembots" in sci-fi lately... Confused

Someone PLEASE feed that poor girl some of those greasy, dont-know-what-kind-of-animal-body-part-that-is, street tacos! (I would have said to feed her a hamburger but if she is 100% chilanga, perhaps the tacos are a better choice).

She's way too skinny!

Thelma, Don't worry, the thin look appears to be no longer that important after marriage and babies in Mexico. Something magical happens after such events. Maybe it is the corner taco stands that serve what you describe. Maybe it is because Mexican women are generally very comfortable with their bodies. I have never figured out where the ample figured ones shop though because the sizes in dress shops are all 2 - 6 it seems. A Grande isn't very grande in clothing sizes, more like an oversized small!
