Dropping in and picking up on a thread concerning the old story that is so often repeated here. Is it only teachers of EFL?ESL?ELT etc that are so obsessed with it? Do you get more where you are than you did at home? Is this the real reason we are abroad, broadening our experience of difference cultures and national positions? Do you feel more ' special' in a different culture, Does it give you an edge over the competition or is there still no chance of you getting a good deal from the locals?
Perhaps reading and writing about it is the best we have to offer ourselves.
Do people really want to know you because of your job, your looks or your nationality? How does this differ from back home? There has to be more to this job than money.

decided to post a "poll"like this on a public forum tells you a good deal about some of the "teachers" cluttering up this "profession" Laughing

Of course,you are right,Denise...but the idea of posting it on this forum is questionable,in my opinion.Maybe they woulde be better off(and maybe luckier too) if they used some of those scruffier boards out there. Rolling Eyes

I agree there is more to this job than money, but it isn't sex. That's another profession that recently has been covered on this forum AD NASEUM, so lets not do that again.
