Does anybody have a list of youth hostels or know of a website where they're listed? Especially any in Mexico would be greatly appreciated. |

Be aware that many hotels rent by the hour. They aren't considered sleazy or anything and many married couples will even go there. |

They do? I've seen that only once in Mexico and felt really silly asking if they did. This is common in SA? |

So, Guy, if you felt so silly, why were you asking? Hmmm
In Ecuador you get little "love shacks" that rent by the hour, but most hotels and hostels go by the night.
Although a friend of mine who manages a hostel told me that they are often full by 8:30 at night, then half empty again by midnight. Seems that a lot of young people still have to get home...

I'll leave it to the imaginative folks of the forum. |

I have only used www.hihostels.com for N America, but the above is the Mexican affiliate. there are only 12 listed, all in Southern Mexico.
PS If you are a married couple living with your parents (and possibly children, too) some time away in a "love shack" sounds like a very good idea. It might be nice even for a quiet little nap. The joys of married life |

http://www.hostelz.com
is good because it actually provides contact details for the hostels so you deal directly with them instead of paying over the odds by booking through a 3rd party website.
motels are great by the way, many a happy night spent in santiago away from the mother and little sister... |
