okay, I'm trying to figure out what health insurance to get, so, What kind do you have?? Do you like it, etc???
I know it's a mundane, awful topic, but I gotta know before I go. Thanks in advance.

IMG- "International Medical Group" seems to be the insurance offered on HI4. They are offering an "ExPatriot Plus" plan which I am looking into. For ages 30-39 rates start at $57 a month for US citizens. Anyone who has more information please PM me. |

I used the insurance that Guy mentioned, while I was travelling around Mexico before my job started. I didn't need to use it (thank goodness) so I don't know how reliable they are, but when I was researching companies, they looked pretty good. I've now got the IMSS coverage, which I haven't had to use either. |

How much was the package you bought? I've always wondered about them... |

It depends on what level of coverage you want, whether you want evacuation to the home country, etc. Emergency evacuation wasn't important for me, since I've now been cut off from the Canadian medical system for being out of the country too long. I think I paid about $150 Cdn for 2.5 months, but don't quote me on that. |

I recently saw this book on Amazon.com: Mexico: Health and Safety Travel Guide (Paperback) by, Curtis P. Page, and Robert H. Page
"Including a directory of more than 180 English-speaking physicians and 50 of the best hospitals in 40 popular Mexico destinations, this guide is for the traveler or expatriate who falls ill or seeks to travel healthy while in Mexico."
It looks promising, though maybe not. I might buy it for myself after Christmas, because I don't want to be struggling through Spanish, in case of a medical situation. |
