I'm new to the whole torrent thing... Why azureus AND bittorrent? Isn't one or the other enough?

I don't think you would need both. I tried BitTorrent and had trouble getting it to work properly, probably for lack of experience. I ditched it and got Azureus which has been nice and stable. Downloading last night's Vancouver vs Ottawa NHL game as I write this.

You can get Azureus here at http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

Then find yourself a torrents list site like http://www.torrentspy.com/

Azureus needs some tweaking to get it working properly. Make sure to read the FAQs.

http://www.torrentspy.com/

http://www.mininova.org/

try these 2 sites.

They feature all of the necessary downloads...all the t.v, movies, sports etc....

Azureus needs no tweaking, it works fine and is very easy and user friendly.

I just downloaded the Leafs/Kings game and when I played it, it had no sound. Is there no audio or am I missing the proper codec? I'm playing it using BS player.

Go get VLC player...google it just like that. It's some kind of codec problem that only VLC player has ever solved for me.

Hoser, VLC worked for me (thanks Guy) when I wanted to watch the Canucks-Senators. I had sound but no video. Worked great afterward.

Center Ice forums usually give you the details on which codecs/downloads required.

I watched Hockey Night in Canada last week with the Leafs and the Stars. It was the first time to listen to the opening intro in years. Great game, great video details, excellent sound, and realized how great it is to be a Canadian. Gotta love it.

Go Sens.

I take it that these are like many other bit torrent downloads and on the fringes of legality?

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

Try this if you're on a PC and all should be fine. Choose the "Lots of stuff" option. Never have to worry about a codec again.

Curious to know what kinds of download speeds people are getting using Bit torrent, Azureus, or similar P2P networks. When I download hockey games within hours of completion, I'm getting maximum speeds (52K/s - my top line speed), which is unusual when there are so many leechers and so few seeders.

What torrent site are you guys using? I'm not finding very many games and certainly not many recent ones. Most recent game I can find is the LA-Toronto game (I'm looking specifically for TO games of course.)

http://ciforums.cjb.net/index.php?

Center Ice Forums seems to be the place to go for quickest posting of games. They have a whole bunch of diehards there.

I found that on TorrentSpy or TorrentReactor, only games from about a week ago are up...not nearly soon enough for this rabid Sens fan.

You might have to change the listening port number for Azureus from it's default as some trackers have banned it. Just go to the Azureus site and it tells you how. Just on Torrents, when you have finished downloading let the file seed, try get an upload ratio of 1. By letting your files seed it helps speed up the entire process.

It depends on where the other users are and how close you are to them. Also, how high they have set their maximum upload speed in their clients. Are you using dialup? 52K is slow. I am getting 200K on an anime download at the moment.

Edit - You're in Mexico, guessing broadband isn't very popular there?
