You only need a 2 year diploma and ANY TEFL.
I have read rumours about this happening for a while, and have met legal people off and on over my 2ish years here who only meet these requirements, and now I am seeing a friend who got caught out on a fake degree invest very little time and money into an online TEFL that meets the non-existant gov't stipulations for the TEFL component. I don't know how strict they are on the diploma requirements or what they check up on as far as that goes.
On a side note- as of this past July, they ARE actually checking the validity of a university degree. MOD EDIT - I hear that they only call the TECO and see if the uni actually exists. I think there should be a lot more jobs opening up as people's contracts come up for renewal over the next year or so, cause my estimate is that a third of the people here hold fake degrees. |
