I was hoping someone (Redley maybe?) could help me with a few things. I am from Canada, but also have Brazilian citizenship, so I was wondering if the same 3-month rule applies when it comes to how long I can stay in Argentina. I might also be interested in applying for work in a call centre, would I be able to work legally in Argentina? Sorry about all of the questions... I have tried finding out about all of this on my own, but Brazilian bureaucracy, as usual, has failed me. Any help appreciated, thanks a lot! |

I think that you as brazilian don't need a work visa...
or at least that's what i understand from migraciones.gov.ar |

i'm pretty sure that anyone not from argentina needs a work visa...however, as a member of mercosur it is a lot easier to secure one once you get a job offer (the process is a lot shorter basically).
http://www.mininterior.gov.ar/migraciones/radicacion.asp
and go down to radicacion temporaria, mercosur.
i'm starting to become a bit of an expert on this as my girlfriend's chilena and we've been trying to sort out residency for her for a while...luckily the amnesty with which i secured my residency is being opened to mercosur (associate) members within the next couple of months. They haven't posted the requirements yet but at a guess i'd say that you'll need a stamp (or proof of entry) in your brazilian passport from before november/december 2005
And yes, the 3 month rule applies but you'll be able to travel on your brazilian national ID card (DNI in Argentina or Cedula in Chile for example). This means that you get no stamps piling up in your passport every time you leave and re-enter so no suspicion of working/illegally.
good luck... |
