I am trying to decide where to teach ESL. I am a Canadian with an elementary education degree. I taught for 2 years in Taiwan and loved it! I also have 1 year of teaching here in the public system. I am looking for somewhere outside of Asia that I can get a legal working visa. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

I'm really up for anything right now. I'm thinking about Central/South America or Europe. These places can be really sticky about providing working visa, though.

Most EU countries require you are an EU national to work in Europe, unless you have dual nationality.

Canada can be a sticky place to get into too if you dont have the required paperwork to get a work visa or you have the wrong passport for them.

Nadine,
Post your question on a board in a part of the world you are interested in. Central and South American countries would be a start. You could also try int'l schools, thought they may want more teaching expereince. They are good jobs if you want to teach in a public school.

ISS is an organization that hires for int'l schools. Do a google search for them.

Thanks for all your help! I have already looked into ISS. Does anyone have any experience teaching at an international school?
