Are there specific schools to stay away from? I remember a poster asking a question about a specific school that was posted here, I don't want to name it for fear of causing a stir. To give a hint, I just know it was a school that seems to post every two weeks on the joblist board. I believe past threads on "blacklisted" schools have been deleted, if there are any schools you know of please provide an offsite link or private message me. Thanks.

It'd probably be easier to ask about specific schools you are thinking about applying to. There are so many dodgy schools in so many places....

Stay away from USCOM and Lil' kids. Both are owned by the same people. The Saitama Board of Labour has many complaints against both companies.

There are at least 2 small schools in Hiroshima that are infamous among the knowledgeable teachers.

If it's Hiroshima that you'll be living in, contact me or visit Hiroshima's forum (www.ChatHiroshima.com).

Too bad the blacklist here has been deleted according to one post. A blacklist is an incredibly valuable resource for job-hunters. How else can we know which schools are worth avoiding ?

Perhaps a simple "voting system" is best ? Poll all the members, to submit a "love this school" or "avoid this school" rating for a variety of school names. In that way, the site's not liable, nor is a single member responsible, for slandering a bad-boy school. By sharing the blame and putting names to a vote, you get more honest, less rumor-driven results and avoid having some lawyer knock on your door.

Wow! What an interesting read. It's sad to think people like this guy continue to operate.

Its even sadder that otherwise intelligent and educated people actually fall for his spiel, often hook line and sinker and end up losing their shirts.

The only thing I can think of they do this is greed, delusions of being able to own their own business with no prior training or business skills, or simply want to avoid working at eikaiwas.

Yea! A great read. It reminds me a little bit of the Republican Party in America.

There was one quote that blew my mind:

Quote:
Give Peter Stanford back his 31,000,000yen you duped from him. He was you first business partner, and yet he was the first of many to follow a similar path. He stuck it out with you for four years Mark, and all you did was dispicable, deceitful and callous to him.

31 million yen?!?!

Also,another funny thing...

Mark Smith started posting comments as a sock. The sock just makes matters worse because everyone knows it's Mark Smith. Plu, if you had any doubts about the character of Mark Smith you just read his posts and nod your head and think, "Wow, he really is that bad!"

By the way, what is the scoop with the Mark Smith/ Larry King issue. Is this the Larry king on CNN. I did a google search andcame up with nothing.

No its not the same Larry King as the talk show host.

Mark lost a court case to one of his former managers. MS had to pay over $US50,000 in compensation and damages
