John ELS,

Thanks for your response and concern.

First, you need to reread all teh prior posts in this thread. Nowhere did anyone suggest to me or did I say I was thinking about pracitcing wihtout going through proper channels. Period.

Second, there's no additional schooling required. It's a matter of jumping through all the proper hoops. As best I can tell they are all paper.

I will look over teh link you provided.

Ciao,

JN

Well, somebody did mention working on your own privately but, yes, it's clear that you have no intention of doing so without the proper credentials, why else would you be going through so much trouble to get the necessary information. You would be surprised at how many people do provide medical advice illegally.
I have a couple doctor friends who had to go back to school to practise in Italy, but, as you've already realized, it's extremely difficult to find reliable, consistent and correct information.
Anyway, if you're just interested in supporting yourself while living here or moving to Italy permanently, you should try translating (if your Italian's up to it).

I'll have to look inott eh translating idea. I've only had two semesters of Italian and that's probably not enough. I thoought I saw a posting somewhere about teaching English to doctors in Pisa. I've written International House because I thought the job was theirs, but never heard back. Appreciaet teh input. Have a great Holiday!

If you get yourself a TEFL certificate then you won't have any trouble finding work teaching English. Highly specialized translations pay more though.
You could go into teaching while you learn Italian.
