I have a question that will probably annoy some people but what the heck.

Has anyone ever had a student really hit on you? I mean in your face sexual advance.

I once had a lovely female studet wait for all her classmates to leave the room and then when I asked her if she had a question about the class, she grabbed me and and kissed me.

I didn't know what to do. Has this happened to anyone else. I have a lot of stories like about Mexico.

Having we been hitting the Christmas cheer a little too hard? Wink I'm not sure how to interpret "lovely female," but if the feelings are mutual and she's of an appropraite age, etc, etc. Set the limits for romance for after the course. If she's no longer interested when you're no longer the teacher..., you've saved youself a lot of grief and trouble. Fortunately this kind of problem is taught about in psychology/therapist training.

Quite forward of her...

I've been flirted with, male and female students. I chalk it up to being Mexico. It's a friendly place.

No, no, not at all. This can be a serious problem and its a shame you didn't get more guidance. I hope other people (including female teachers out there) will want to contribute!

Two weeks away...you must be just about foaming at the mouth Mr. Daniels...I do hope you'll report in from the Rviera. Maybe not with an egg noggy point view, but rather a Mexican one?

Salud, companyeros!

Ah, the trauma!

I've had some guys make subtle comments and I just laugh but remain neutral if possible. However, there have been some cases where things got out of hand... I was teaching Saudi men and I had this kind of thing all the time... My response? Either you stop (cat calling in class, trying to kiss me/grab my arse etc) or you sit in the dos's office for my classes. (I didn't discuss this with my dos- it came out in a moment of fustration and disbelief! - but as it turned out I had his full support. Luckily!) Unfortunately I had to do it once, but it stopped straight after that. Good too because it's difficult when you're class is getting up to grab you all the time Rolling Eyes

Actually now that I think about it, I've been hit on in almost every adult class I've given. I suppose it's because all my classes have consisted of typically 'macho' cultures. Hmmm, I starting to get irritated now that I think about it. I think I'm going to have some more mulled wine... (yes, please excuse my grammar!)

My students are 80% males between the ages of 17 and 22, when I started this job, I was 25. Have I ever been hit on in class, hell yeah. After my first semester I stopped wearing any skirts that were above my knee. (We have those platforms at the front of our classrooms so the students at the back can see the board, and the students in the front can see, use your imagination Laughing )

If you've read a lot of the archives you can probably find mention of how I met my husband Embarassed .

There's a topic for a new thread. I met my wife under similar circumstances...except I wasn't wearing a short skirt.

This brings a whole new meaning to the method known as Total Physical Response .
