Well it's open, and as you'd expect on a hot Sunday afternoon just 2 days
after the grand opening, it was a madhouse of shop-until-you-drop humanity.
You can enter directly from the Siam Center BTS station on the lower level, btw.
First impression: it's a lot larger on the inside than it looks from the outside.
I got lost several times. Much to my surprise, however, there was
an army of cheerful staff on duty with walkie-talkies
who actually spoke English.
Greeting you in the main lobby is an exotic car show -
from Bentley to Ferrari to a brand new orange Lamborghini.
Most definitely out of my price range - but fun to look at.
I wonder how much the key-chains are?
There's a huge food court on the lower level, and you'll
find all the upscale designer boutiques you'd expect
to find in today's ber Malls - although roughly
30% of them aren't open yet.
The Ocean World Aquarium is located on 2 floors in the basement,
but the waiting lines were long. Give it a miss for a few weeks.
Ticket prices: adults 450 Baht, kids 280 Baht,
ugly, overweight Farang 600 Baht

Siam Paragon......the family man's Gaysorn Plaza......
Hmmm....wandering around designer shops looking at stuff I can buy fake 1 km away in Pratunam market seems a waste of time to me.
However if it has a good food court all is forgiven.
Like the pictures of the shark eating men though...might go along to have a look at them when i have a spare 500 bt floating around in my pocket! |

Yes, a nice place [if you can afford it]. Check out the bookshop on the 2nd floor (south wing - I think). This has the most expansive selection of teaching resources that I've seen in BKK. Much better than Asia Books. (Which BTW is there on the 3rd floor). The name of the bookshop is Konykoyoka (or something similar).
Just as an aside are there any other teacher resource bookshops in BKK that members could recommend?
Happy New Year |

^ Hello AnchorMan & Boy Wonder !
Kinokuniya Bookshop: http://www.kinokuniya.com/
Yes, they are well-stocked, and probably the
best resource for English books in Bangkok.
They are in 3 Bangkok locations now:
Isetan @ The World Trade Center
Emporium Shopping Complex
Siam Paragon
Speaking of Siam Paragon:
I finally parted with the 450 Baht today & spent 2 hours walking
around Ocean World Aquarium - located in the basement.
I'd say it was interesting and well worth the money,
but still too crowded for my blood.
It's dark too ...
a good place to take a date.
re: other BKK bookshops, here's what's listed
on The Master Index Thailand at the moment:
