I got to the airport this afternoon (christmas afternoon) and I was told that although my flight was booked it was not paid for, so therefore I could not board and I am still in the US. My company in Saudi was supposed to take care of all the travel arrangements and this i what I get stuck with. I said before that I might be posting alot here, and yet I am not even the magic kingdom and I am already complaining!!!
How f*cked up is that??? I swear to god, I am not trying to make my life hard but the special people of saudi arabia are making my life hard!!!

If they can't even afford your plane ticket, what do you tnink is going to happen when it comes to paying your salary?
Unless you are working for an outfit whose solvency you are 100% certain of, I would rethink your plans. |

No worries about the company, they are good, I just think they are little umm, slow. I was told the ticket was an e-ticket, but when I showed up at the airport since I hadn't picked up the ticket 24 hours in advance the money was refunded or something like that. It was a lot of fast talk by a bunch of people I think who didn't want to admit any mistake to this degree to them. Grrr..... So I am biting lip, accepting this honest mistake as a communication breakdown/misunderstanding/ignorance.
but still, christmas day, come one that sucked!

on the other hand my wife gets to stay a little while longer in southern Calif until I get a new flight, so she is very happy! |

A pre-paid ticket advice (PTA) has to be picked up at an airline office or travel agent and not at the airport. That has been my experience in the past. Your employer should have clarified all that for you.
Who are they anyway ? If they can't get that right then what other surprises are in store for you ? |

I have to say that it's not been my experience. On the two occasions when I travelled to KSA using a PTA, I picked the ticket up at the airline's desk at the airport just prior to check-in. |

Come to think of it, this may well vary from airlinje to airline. I recollect in the distant past getting my pre-paid ticket at Heathrow.
But my point still stands. If the employer can't get this right, what else will the screw up ? |
