| Geez. Way to burst my bubble! I'm moving there in 6 days. I hope that Samatha is right. Oceans and parks are a good thing. But why pins in the eyes Lozwich? |

vlynne, I forgot to mention that Mochis has a very hot pro baseball team. Even if you don't like baseball you MUST go to a game. It is an event unto itself. You will find yourself on the big screen (you know, ala Pamela Anderson getting discovered at the sports event in Vancouver!) Vendors, beer, popcorn, souvenirs, assorted free gifts, dancers, cuddly team mascot, etc. Games in Mexico are so much fun and before living here I would have sooner watched paint dry. These hotties from Mochis come down to my neck of the woods to go toe to toe with our team (same league) and it is great fun, win or lose. You will enjoy your time there I am sure.

Whoops! Sorry!
I've never lived there, just passed through on the way to the Copper Canyon, and I found it dusty (even for Mexico), unfriendly and a little frightening at times. Word is that it is the place where all the opium growers from the mountains come for their groceries, so every now and then the place fills up with people carrying firearms and who have a bit of a mistrusting attitude. Also, in winter, the fog doesn't go until about 9 in the morning, if not later!
But give it a go, and maybe you can change my mind!

Well, I'm here now and it's not so bad. Yes, it is dusty. But it feels quite safe. This is my first time in Mexico so I don't have much to compare it to. The people seem friendly but I feel that it is quite Americanized with a Wal-Mart and Home Depot. I'm a bit disappointed by the Sunday market and the lack of entertainment but I still think it is a prime location, close to the beach, Copper Canyon and other beauties.
All in all, it's a tame place to live. |

Thanks for checking in! The dust sort of comes with the territory. This afternoon we have had such a wind that coconuts have come flying out of the trees. There is about 2 inches of dust on my car now. But even without wind, dusting is a constant job. You do get used to it after awhile. (The dust, not the dusting) The heat of summer is a different story. I sensed you would like it there, but then again what do I know?  Enjoy your time there and don't be sticking any pins in your eyes! |
