That's what I call keeping you're priorities straight.
There's an interesting developments in the new generation of only children. They may be the sole focus for many, many uncles and aunts and I assume very spoiled (compared to previous generations anyway) |

For urban families, having a daughter is not a disaster any more. Witness participation rates in tertiary education and the increasing role of women in management. On the rural front, they've never been restricted by the one child rule anyway. Girls are still aborted, infanticide still occurs. Peasant girls migrate to factory jobs, boys to urban construction sites.
As to the OP's topic, whilst I have no basis for comparison, I found China to be a good place in this regard. Short working hours and a relatively high income certainly helped. |

I think you need to consider the CITY, not the country. Most, if not all, big cities have very big expat scenes whether it be tokyo, seoul, hong kong, manila, budapest or where ever. somehow we are attracted like moths...
if you are concerned about a big expat scene AND western ammenities (ie. walmart, starbucks, cheese, etc) then you'll want to research further. |
