Has anyone looked into purchasing Real Estate in Costa Rica? It is my dream to buy a beach house in Central America. I was wondering if anyone could give me a price, if one purchased property from a local agent and not from a western agent in the U.S. |

check out www.economicos.com (if you can read a little spanish), or google "tico times" and go to that online newspaper, and click on classifieds to look at real estate. If you do a google search for costa rica property you will come up with some good stuff, if people are buying someone will be selling... |

Thanks for the info. I saw some houses in my price range. I will be looking to buy a house in two years. I am thinking of spending one year teaching in Costa Rica in order to get an idea of where I would like to buy the house. Also I need to find a location which will allow me to rent the house out for part of the year. |

just got back from a trip to guatemala. the most beautiful lake in the world according to some (and i agree) is lake atilan (not sure of spelling). santiago, which is where the recent mud slide was, would be a great and cheap place to own a home. i met some americans who built a nice home with a view of the lake and from the other side a view of the volcana. cost $25,000 to $30,000 land included----coffee and bananas grow in their garden. and i really liked santiago, where the mayan where their native clothes. |
