i was planning to go to japan, but it seems----so far away! i know i like the climate in the highlands. i just got back from lake atilin/santiago area of guatemala.
i have a bachelors in psych, masters in social work, tefl certificate, unrelated teaching experience (screenplay writing at a community college).
can't speak spanish and don't have a teaching certificate---will that hold me back from getting a job? |

With a bachelors degree, a TEFL certificate, and some teaching experience, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting a half-decent job teaching in a private school. That might pay something like 8000 pesos a month; enough to live but not enough to save.
As for knowing Spanish, I didn't know a word when I came to Mexico about 18 months ago. That didn't hold me back at all. |
