Hello! I'm planning on doing the EBC course in Madrid in February. 2006 and I still have a couple of questions regarding finding accommadation for the four weeks of the course. I've looked through past posts on here and they all have been really helpful in helping me every step of the way. I'm planning on booking a room with InisderMadrid for at least a couple of weeks and am wondering if anyone had any information about them or past experiences? I really would rather not stay in a hostel as it seems as though it might be a bit hard to get work done as from what I've heard the EBC course can be quite intensive....Thanks!

Staying in a room rented out by one of Madrid's more colourful expats? Maybe better off with a hostal, expecially if you're a female and you want to concentrate.

Sounds as if you know a fair amount about flat hunting in Madrid. I�m here until at least the end of June. The job is sorted out but I need to find somewhere nice to live by the 10 January! My language school have found a vacancy for me near Metro Estrella. Is that a good area. Ideally I want to be closer to Metro Velasquez without paying more than 450,� per month! Do you know of anybody searching for a relatively sane housemate?

P.s. Where�s the best place to meet expats? Obviously I�ll be speaking and hopefully vastly improving me Spanish but the chance to speak the old lingo will always be welcome!

...don't know metro Estrella, but I think the area down there is ok: it's not a rough area as far as I know.

Thanks Moore for that piece of info.Maybe I'll keep looking at hostels! The only thing is that I really would prefer a private room and everything that I've looked at seems to be around 30-35 a night. Anyone know of any privates in hostels that are more down around 15-25 a night? Thanks again.

There are definitely hostals for 15 euros a night for a single, just have a wander around the streets just south of Sol (the very centre),, around the plaza Santa Ana area, and you'll find a small and spartan, but cheap and clean room for 15 euros a night in a one star "hostal" (can't remember any of the names I'm afriad, but there are a good few around), I did this at first, but ended up going to a dorm-style hostal just so I'd meet a load of people: noisy and all that, but I still know a good few of the people I met there after two and a half years here (that was "Los Amigos" hostal)

Hi Moore,

Popped into JJ's yesterday for the first timeand made the most of their all you can drink after 8pm offer! Amazingly met somebody from my language school, togther with a couple of friendly English guys. Bookshop downstairs has some real bargains too. Clearly a place to head for some home comforts!
