Well it seems as if one of the more infamous language schools is on a hiring spurt, so I was just curious as to how many other people will be moving to Istanbul here soon, where they will live, when they will fly, etc etc. Perhaps a Newbie pub quiz? Actually I'm not sure what the original is about so maybe someone could explain that as well?

Hey Turkishlover,

Yeah, it seems ET is hiring at the moment. I'll be arriving in the Great city of Istanbul on Feb. 21st. I was planning on working at K2 branch in Kadikoy since i hear its a good branch to work for. So, I'll be living in Kadikoy. I was gonna live by myself, but i've been thinking of trying to find a roomie (if your interested). Or maybe we could just meet up for a drink and talk about newbie stuff

When do you arrive? What branch do you plan on working for. I've posted this before and i'm sure you know, to stay away from Taksim and K1.

Well,

Taksim, I've heard about from previous posts. I'm sure Karen Fay is cleaning house over there and making it better. But, you yourself told me that K2 is a better branch to work for than K1 and i heard from a teacher at K2 that K1 should be avoided.

I am just passing on the advice I was given to a fellow newbie. No offense to your school Molly, obviously i still like ET and still wanna work for you. Also, only two out of how many branches in Ist. have a bad rep? You should be proud. You can't expect EVERYTHING to be perfect.

I'll be arriving in Istanbul to work for English Time (assuming things work out) sometime within the next few weeks. I wouldn't be opposed to going out for a drink/coffee with any English speaker around my same age (23) when I get there.

Wow... I guess we really are a bunch of newbies, huh? What day is your b-day: mine is Leap Year, but the 28th serves just as well. Anyone else just graduate from college?

My B-day is March 2nd. Yeah, i just graduated too. We should stick together, us newbies. I'll buy a conch, and blow it whenever i need you guys. "Newbies of Istanbul UNITE!"

And at one point will we no longer be "newbies"? I mean... are there stages we have to pass... a special handshake we need to learn from the elder teachers? Hey, and for you guys signing on with ET, are you living in the provided lodging?

Yeah, hopefully the newbie stage will pass, and we'll be giving other newbies advice and critizing them behind their backs.

I'm not doing the provided lodging. I'm planning on finding a flat of my own. Stay in a hotel the first few days while i hunt for one. Molly said she could hook me up with a good real estate agent. (Thanks Molly)

If any of you fellow newbies are interested in being roomies i'm up for it. Otherwise i'm sure i can manage on my own.
