I've been asked for an interview. Have been taken once, I want to make sure Global Partners operates honestly before wasting money to attend an interview. I will greatly appreciate any comments. |

Checked out the japanese website. Doesnt say very much about english teaching. What exactly are you doing for them?
They are part of ALC which is a large publishing company which publishes English language teaching materials for Japanese.
I would find out what is in the contract as that will give you the best idea of whats involved and whats expected. |

I worked for them part-time in 04 and 05. I found them to be very good. Good rates of pay (and always on time) and pretty well organised.
Enjoy. |

If you look at Global Partners' site, you'll discover that they offer "teacher dispatch services" via outsourcing. This is illegal in Japan and last year MEXT ordered that this kind of phony teacher dispatch should be stopped. What you can expect is no health insurance and no job security from this kind of company.

Some companies are reforming though. It is possible that Global Partners and the schools that it does business with have finally decided to comply with the law for the upcoming school year. There nothing to indicate that on their site however. If an agent sends your resume to prospective schools or even takes you to a school for an interview then something is wrong. Legally, they can't do that.
What's interesting about Global Partners is that their president is a former employee of Korakuen English Centre, which perhaps the granddaddy of English teacher "dispatching". |
