i called teach-english-mexico.com and
it looks like i'll be moving to mexico to
teach feb 1st. outside guadalahara.
i speak no spanish, but have a tefl
and a college degree and the job placement
person was glad i called.
it costs $462 for the service, but it takes
a lot of the nervousness away and i get
a 30 hour a week monday to friday position.
has anyone used them? are they as good
as they advertise they are? i heard about
them from the author of living in mexico,
mexico mike---his real name is mike nelson.
i actually called him after reading the book and
he recommended them highly in the book and
on the phone. |

Is that pesos or dollars..?
You can easily get a decent teaching job for free in Mexico. I can see an agency charging a fee for helping you out with a little hand-holding, but close to 5000 pesos seems exorbitant to me. |

I know Teach-English-Mexico has been in business for a while and is probably a totally legit company. But I've had a pretty negative feeling about them since I ordered some information from them many years ago, mostly because what I received was not worth the money. I'm not saying the placement fee is not worth it if you are nervous or that they won't be of great help to you - in fact, I'm really interested in how everything goes once you arrive in Mexico. But I have to agree that jobs in Mexico are easy to find - you really should not have to pay anyone to help you. |
