Can anyone tell me where i could begin or if anyone knows of a school that is hiring please please let me know. I am trying not to panic Smile ahhhh

Can you find Tlalquepaque on a map of the city? In the south. Try there too.

Yep, GDL will wear out your shoe leather in the first few days, but you'll soon get your bearings - and that's when you'll see that the centre of town is actually quite small and manageable (well, as cities of 5m go).

The papers might have something, but a better first step would be to visit Paginas Amarillas on the net, get a list of schools in GDL - and phone them. The ones in the centre you can just drop by.

Good luck!

(And don't panic - here, the money ain't great, but there's never a lack of job opportunities. Maybe there's some connection...)

Idea When I was there, the competition for jobs was pretty high. A lot of EFL teachers there because of ITTO, the training program. You might go by Vila Santa, a fabulous place to stay, but also a great place to hang out because a lot of the ITTO teachers stay there. You might get some leads. And of course if you take the ITTO course, they guarantee job placement in Mexico after.

I haven't taught in GDL in more than five years but at that time it was pretty easy to find a job. I went in advance to check out the city and interviewed with quite a few. Ended up with a job before I went back 6 weeks later! Take a quick look online for language schools there and you'll surely come up with a list of the top 4 or 5 -- in the past it was Vancouver Language Centre, Proulex, Harmon Hall and Interlingua. You may also want to check out the private schools that teach English. Then call or go directly to the schools and apply in person. This should be a good time of year with classes just starting. You can also access the help wanted ads from the Guadalajara reporter online for free: http://www.guadalajarareporter.com/classifieds.cfm
