Love them or hate them they are part of our lives here in Indonesia. Speaking for myself there are times when I'd like to go on a rampaging massacre through Taman Anggrek or Senayan Mall equipped with a sledge hammer and a few cannisters of tear gas. Is it just me?

are the malls there still generally regarded as places 'to be seen / hang out in' rather than to buy anything ?

| I was in Jakarta recently, and all I did was go to different malls. There really does seem to be nothing much else to do there! |

So, one of us wants to throw tear gas around T.A. and create havoc?
Have you thought about making hasty exit after that?
You'd better plan well, as it always takes me 10 minutes just trying to work out where the exit is! |

Tear Gas for Senayan - clear Sogo!! Then beat them with sticks as they come running out...
For TA - you'd need your Tear Gas on a timer as that place is like a maze!! Whoever designed that place never had to get out of a mall in a hurry. |

I would agree. Taman Anggrek or Senayan Mall are the worst. Senayan is an Indonesian woman's shopping paradise. But for me--instant, total boredom.
Another thing that gets to me about malls here is the noise. Go into Bread Talk and they're playing house music as loud as any disco. What's that about? If it's too loud to have a normal conversation then I don't stay any longer than I have to.
Is it me or do Indonesian people like everything extremely loud? |
