I am a burgeoning soon-to-be certified teacher with a masters in childhood education from Teachers College in NYC. From the moment I graduate, I'm out of this country to absorb the world that so few in America get to see. Of course I would love nothing more than to teach English.

I would like to open this discussion about other teachers' opinions regarding the best (and worst) places to teach with respect to the qualifications that one might need to be paid the best salary.[/i]

Its not so much countries as systems.
The international school circuit would be the best paying, and once you're in, you can choose a different country every few years.
Of the government systems, Hong Kong pays well. I think they like some experience though.

International schools tend to like a minimum of 2-3 years experience in your home country's public schools system.

Certainly to get QTS (qualified teacher status) in the UK you have to do a year's probation. It might be a good idea to consolidate at home for a year, and that might make you appreciate where you're going to even more.Smile

You're going to have to compare income vs. cost of living, too.
