My wife and I are moving to Madrid from the usa on the first of march 2006. We'll need a place to stay for at least a few months (3+). The probelm is that every time i find a room for rent, the description states that it's only for one person. Aren't there rooms out there for couples as well? I don't care if we have to share a flat with others, as we're trying to stick on a budget.

Any help would be appreciated!

Have you thought about getting a studio? You can get a central one for about 700 euros, some even cheaper which is only 350 each, so basically what you'd pay for a room. Not all that many people are too keen on renting one room for two people as shared flats are already crowded enough. Some mates of mine tried to find a room for two for a long time, but ended up paying a lot more as they were a couple and ended up getting their own studio.

Well, we have looked a bit into getting our own place/studio, but I haven't seen anything cheaper than 600 euros (where have you found cheaper ones?). Plus, we're fairly young (mid 20s) and we like the idea of living w/others so that we can meet new friends! Razz

Try this site... http://madrid.loquo.com/english/cat/312 ....there were several sub-600 ones yesterday, though obviously not that central.
I take your point about meeting people, but Madrid has to be one of the most sociable places on the planet so you shouldn't have too much bother in that respect even if you do live in a studio. There are also a lot of benefits to living in a studio, such as peace and quiet (a very rare commodity over here) and the ability to have people around whenever you want and not when you don't want to and so on. To be honest, I really think that when you go below 300 euros per head over here the quality of accomodation takes a nose-dive, but you might be lucky, this is a pretty good time of year to be looking.
