Could anybody please advise me of a website that lists common US or British prescription drugs and their Mexican equivalents?

Thanks

i buy a prescription drug here that is OTC in mexico. when i wanted to find it the first time, i had to ask based on the active ingredient. pharmacists look it up in a computer database or webpage (probably a webpage). so, you should try that if you don't get a response. whichever you're interested in, maybe do some kind of google search using the active ingredient. you also might try contacting the pharmaceutical company if your list is short.

I beleive most medications are manufactured by multinational corporations, and the availability of drugs in Mexico has more to do with supply-and-demand economics than brand-name labelling. So there are US drugs available, some are not, some European drugs are available, some are not. Fortunately its fairly easy to get advice from a Mexican pharmacist. You could also look for generic versions of brand name drugs (there isnt really any relabelled "Mexican" drug equivilents to "US" and European pharmacueticals)

I'd always thought the issue was more on patents. The US offers long patents for new medications whereas Mexico (and Canada) have much shorter terms, which allow for more generic brands to come out quickly.

Like Matt notes, I think it's the main ingredient name you look for.
