Turned in my final grades today and they handed me a fancy bag, in which was a nicely packaged fancy box, in which were of 2 high-quality tins of high-quality tea (suitable for re-gifting). And a fancy red envelope with a few fancy red portraits of Chairman Mao - all as a Chinese New Year's gift....
....And then there was the printed and laminated semester-long schedule for next semester. That was the nicest gift of all. Advanced planning may be taking hold here.
Here are the key dates for the Spring semester, months in advance, before the usual whining starts around the middle of April:
April 5 (Weds) - Qing Ming (Grave-sweeping) Festival. Not all schools observe this, but mine does. = No classes.
The May Day Golden Week this year is (no surprise here) from May 1 to May 7. That's a Monday to Sunday.
The May Day holiday makeup dates this year are:
Saturday April 29 - Wednesday classes
Sunday, April 30 - Friday classes.
End of the year (finals done, grades turned in, and students sent home) is June 30th.
You have been warned/informed. |

You will find these make-up dates vary from school to school. There is a rumor floating around that my college will not break for the May 1 nor the October 1 holidays this year. Rather, they will have an winter break for next school year. |
