I have searched and searched all over the sprawling internet and can find very little on Ridge International school in Tondabayashi.

Can anybody tell me anything about this place?

On a more general note; do the wise heads out there think it is more of a risk going for somewhere that has no website/no visible threads in hyperspace?

Cheers.

Actually very few Japanese English schools or companies have web pages. I've seen that name advertised, but know absolutely nothing about it. It is safe to say that it is not a real international school, but rather an adverising gimmick for a standard conversation school.

Tondabayashi is a pretty nice place, South of Osaka. It is about half an hour from Namba, the hub of things fun.
If you head further south there are some nice mountains etc. Good for hiking or MOUNTAIN BIKING.
Never heard of the school, but Tondabayashi ain't a bad place to be.

There are only a few 'real' international schools in Osaka with non-Japanese students and they are NOT in the boondocks of Osaka. Osaka International school, Marist etc are in this group.

Ridge is either just the name of the school of its an unaccreditted playcenter for bilingual and foreign kids some times with a foreign teacher watching over them.

I worked at a university in that area for ten years and used to live up the kintetsu line in Fujidera- its about 30-minutes to Tennoji from Tondabayashi by local express.

More info on the area

I worked at Ridge from 1998-2000 and enjoyed my time there. It's a conversation school that caters to the usual 3-year-old and up age group. I had taught at a couple of other schools before joining Ridge and found it unique in that many of the students were actually speaking English after studying there a few years. That was not true at my other places of employment. Adult classes at Ridge had a maximum of 3 people. It was a great group of students.

It's located at an express stop on the Nakai line which makes Osaka or the mountains both easily accessible. I've been in one of the apartments provided by the school, and it seemed nice and well-furnished.

They do have a Japanese website that you might want to have a look at <www.ed.ridge.co.jp>. My experience was very positive so I would work there again in a heartbeat.
