Heres an example of a type of job postingthis recent one by Dar Al-Khibra Corp.that shows a hell of a lot of nerve and insults your intelligence:

The benefits are well tabulated in the Employment Agreement. The Employment Agreement is a long legal authenticated document which will answer most questions related to pay, benefits and working conditions.

The candidate must ensure to email all neccessary
[sic] documents i.e. detailed resume, degree certificate, university transcripts, recommendation letters, experience letters, and a clear photo in order to receive the Employment Agreement copy.

Nowhere is the salary given. Is that a minor detail? Hardly, money is the only reason any sane, straight person would want to teach in KSA, yet these bozos have the nerve to ask you to assemble and e-mail a long list of documents before they will even tell you the salary. Weve all had to do this sort of thing before. How long does it take to put all this stuff together? How much of a pain is it to scan it, attach it and send it?

And the insult to your intelligence is that anyone with any experience in KSA knows perfectly well why they dont state the salary in the postingit sucks. When an employer keeps the salary a secret, its because its so low that if they told you upfront, you wouldnt apply. Why else keep it a secret? Look at SALTs recent posting. They sure as hell make a big deal out of the high salary.

t all depends on if the salary is fixed or dependent on qualifications or experience.

If you apply for a job with us you won't find out the salary until you get the job offer, because it depends on qualifications and above all experience. However we do publish the salary scale.

If Dar Al-Khibra doesn't publish the salary scale it is going to lose candidates, because they are going to presume they will be lowballed even if it isn't true.

The advert has clearly been written by Personnel. They are the ones who want all the paperwork and find it easier to get it all in one go. Like nearly all Personnel departments in the Gulf, they can't conceive of the fact that you might have better things to do than apply for a job with them.

All of that said though, if you are applying for jobs in the Gulf, you ought to have all of that ready scanned. Then when you send an application off that asks for it simply attach it to the email by a simple drag-and-drop.

Not only that but badly translated - it is Arabic through and through. If you're interested, just send them an email and ask them whatever you want.

As for contractual obligations, I don't know whether this has been discussed here or not, but regardless of what might be signed before you come, Saudi employers bear no obligations to you other than those agreed between you and them once you are in Saudi Arabia.

It is fairly common for Philipinos, for instance, to be promised x, y, and z, and even given contracts only to be presented with new conditions - including reduced salaries, once they are on site.

Beware of private sector employers. Some have good track records, others not.
