I am not an expert but I don't think this is true. If you have a permant address in Japan you should be able to set up a Fidelity account in Japan. With that account you can buy stocks in Canada or the U.S. as well as stocks on about any exchange. My account is registered in the U.S. but I will probably be buying one Candian stock soon. |

True, JZer. I could invest in Canada through a third party. I was talking about investing with a Cdn bank or mutual fund company. That is not something non-residents can do, so I have been bluntly told by more than one bank and company.
I will not invest in Japan, I don't trust it and the economy has been in such a rut, I'd rather keep it in a pillow case. |
